Many of you have read about the problems supposedly caused by having homes built with "Chinese drywall" in them. This material was reportedly used in some newly constructed homes and remodels between the years of 2001 - 2008. So far, this has not been a big issue in the Zephyrhills area of Florida, with very few reports of homes here containing this material.
But it pays to be careful when you are buying a home since to remove this material and replace it is not cheap. It can cost a fortune, and some people also complain of physical maladies. Though proof seems to be sketchy at this point in time.
On Monday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that several deaths of people exposed to this drywall were NOT apparently related to its presence. At least that would seem to be good news. Of course, I suppose that still does not mean that you could not have some other irritating symptoms with Chinese drywall in the house.
