I often hear sellers lament that their homes did not appreciate much over the past year. Well, there is some good news, depending on how you look at the situation. For one, prices have not dropped. A recent survey showed that the prices in Florida are quite stable at this point in time, neither rising nor falling (the average price being approximately $240,000). An even bigger point to keep in mind is that if the value of the home you are selling did not increase tremendously, neither did the price of the home you will be buying! A year ago I often heard sellers complain that they were going to have to pay a high price for the home they were moving to, even though they were getting a high price for their current home. So try to remember this concept of real estate. It may take away some of the sting out of a slowly appreciating housing market.
